In walks Mac, a teen werewolf that Mercy immediately senses is not part of the local pack. She gives the kid a job and looks into finding him refuge with the local weres. She has lived right behind the Alpha, Adam, for a number of years and has a good relationship with his family. Unfortunately, trouble is following Mac around, and Mercy finds herself knee-deep in a supernatural showdown!First, I must say that I absolutely love how Briggs came to name this novel. I really love creative names for books, and this one is so fantastic. It might not seem so out-of-the-blue because the book is about werewolves, after all, but once you read it, you’ll understand. Or, maybe I’m just silly. Who cares.Secondly, I was shocked that Mercy isn’t a werewolf! And while werewolves are a major part of the story, Mercy is something entirely different. I absolutely love the history about what she is. Awesomeness.Thirdly, Mercy is a character that you are immediately drawn to. She is so warm and engaging but she can take care of herself and isn’t afraid to fight. She is loyal, compassionate, intelligent, hardheaded, independent and fierce! I absolutely love the relationship she has with the Alpha’s daughter, Jesse. It warms my heart!Fourthly, Briggs’ is a fantastic writer. Seriously. She can keep you in suspense and draw out a conspiracy theory that will keep you guessing until the very end. She also develops characters very well, and I honestly really like a ton of the secondary characters in this series! Oh, and then there is the oh-so-obvious-but-not-written-obvious love triangle. Wonder what happens there…Fifthly, more Adam, please! And Madea. Favorite quotes:"MS. THOMPSON, it said in heavy block letters, PLEASE KEEP YOUR FELINE OFF MY PROPERTY. IF I SEE IT AGAIN, I WILL EAT IT." “Drink it,” I told her. “It’s good for what ails you. Caffeine and sugar. I don’t drink it, so I ran over to your house and stole the expensive stuff in your freezer. It shouldn’t be that bad. Samuel told me to make it strong and pour sugar into it. It should taste sort of like bitter syrup.” She gave me a smile smile, then a bigger one, and plugged her nose before she drank it down in one gulp. “Next time, “she said in a hoarse voice, “I make the coffee.” “Mercy,” he mumbled. “What the hell did you do to my French Roast.”
